Probe into men's death in house

Two men were found dead in the bedroom of a house in Gort, Co Galway today.

Gardaí said the pair, believed to be from Brazil, were discovered in the home on Ennis Road at around 8.30am.

Detectives are investigating whether the men, one of whom was aged in his late 20s and the other in his 40s, were overcome by poisonous fumes.

A garda spokesman said it was not clear how the men died but that officers were investigating if gas or fumes had leaked from a burner or heater in the house.

The deaths are not being treated as suspicious. The house has been sealed off for technical examination and the bodies are due to be taken to hospital for post mortem examination.
