€250,000 worth of cannabis seized
Gardaí have seized cannabis with a street value of €250,000 in Wexford, it emerged today.
Two multi-million euro seizures of the drug were made earlier this week in Dublin.
Local gardaí and members of the Garda National Drug Unit carried out a number of searches of houses in the New Ross area.
A Garda spokeswoman said they seized cannabis resin with a potential street value of up to €250,000.
Two men aged 35 and 23 were arrested and taken to New Ross garda station for questioning under section two of the Drug Trafficking Act.
Yesterday, officers from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation found one tonne of cannabis worth €7m when they stopped a van in Whitehall, Dublin
On Monday, Gardaí seized cannabis resin worth almost €12m at a warehouse in south Dublin.
In that find, 1.8 tonnes of the drug were discovered by gardaí and officers from Revenue’s Customs Service, after it was shipped into Dublin Port from Spain disguised as boxes of notepads.
