Holohan jury told to ignore 'inaccurate' media coverage

The judge in the trial of a 21-year-old student accused of murdering Robert Holohan earlier this year has ordered the jury to ignore media coverage of the proceedings.

Mr Justice Paul Carney criticised the coverage of the opening day of the trial in the past 24 hours, saying it featured some "extraordinary inaccuracies".

He said "facts had been stood on their head even though they were presented under the nose of the journalists involved".

Wayne O'Donoghue, from Ballyedmond in Middleton, is accused of murdering his 11-year-old neighbour in January of this year.

He has admitted killing the schoolboy, but has denied the charge of murder.
