Two men were rescued from the sea off the Co Wexford coast at 9.30pm, the Irish Coastguard has said.

The search is continuing for the third crew member, the skipper of their missing vessel that failed to return to port.

The Rising Sun, which had a three-man crew, was last seen at around 3.30pm off the Great Saltee Island, 9km from the coast.

The search was being led by the Irish Naval vessel, the LE Orla.

“The Napier fishing boat took the two men from the water within the search zone,” a spokesperson said.

“One man was wearing a lifejacket.

“Both men were taken by lifeboat to Kilmore Quay and then transferred by ambulance to Wexford General Hospital.”

The condition of one of the men is critical.
