Man shot on city street

A man is in a serious condition in hospital tonight after a shooting in Limerick city.

Gardaí at Henry Street Station are investigating the incident which occurred at 7.30pm in the St Marys Park area.

The victim, who is in his 50s, was removed from the scene to the nearby Mid-West Regional Hospital.

The scene has been sealed off for technical examination.

A Garda spokesman added: “One man has been arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.”
