Man questioned over woman's murder

A man in his 20s was today being questioned over the murder of woman whose body was found in her home in Co Dublin.

A man in his 20s was today being questioned over the murder of woman whose body was found in her home in Co Dublin.

The body of 48-year-old Regina O’Connor, from Castlebyrne Park, Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock, was discovered at the house yesterday afternoon.

A post mortem examination was carried out by the State pathologist professor Marie Cassidy, who found the victim died as a result of a serious assault.

The man was arrested and was being held at Blackrock Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, a garda spokesman said.

Gardaí have preserved the scene and a team from the Garda Technical Bureau is conducting a forensic examination.
