Judgment was reserved this afternoon in the appeal by a 19-year-old Kilkenny city man against his conviction for the murder of a 36-year-old mother of two.

Mark Costigan, from Aylesbury, was found guilty last November and jailed for life for stabbing Christina Quinn 35 times at her home on Greenfields Road.

Her body was found by her eldest son, Jason, when he returned from work on December 5, 2002.

Mr Costigan's lawyers are appealing the conviction on two grounds.
