Man awarded damages in abuse case
A 56-year-old County Monaghan man was been awarded €273,000 in damages this afternoon in a High Court action against his former school teacher, who is also a former GAA Ulster Council secretary.
Michael Feeney, aged 73, from Ballybay, Co. Monaghan pleaded guilty in November 2000 to charges of sexual abuse and was jailed for three years.
Mr Feeney had contested the civil proceedings taken against him.
