The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed has expressed concern about the number of men in long-term unemployment.

Live Register figures published today show that an extra 500 men were claiming unemployment benefits last month, while the number of women signing on decreased by 300.

INOU spokesman Eric Conroy said it appeared a lot of men in their 30s and 40s were losing jobs and finding it more difficult than women to get back into the labour market.
