Wicklow murder victim identified

Gardaí have named the man whose body was discovered near the Wicklow Gap yesterday as 27-year-old Eoin McCarthy from Ashwood Park in Clondalkin in Dublin.

It is believed he was shot in the head at the scene.

A post mortem was carried out yesterday evening on the body, but the results are being withheld for operational reasons. A forensic examination is continuing at the scene of the murder near the Wicklow Gap.

The body was discovered by a passing motorist at the side of the road between Glendalough and Hollywood early yesterday.
