Ruling due on McArdle extradition
The Supreme Court will rule today on a challenge by a Co Louth man against an order for his extradition to Spain where he is wanted for the alleged murder of his wife.
Michael Dermot McArdle (aged 36), from Heynestown in Dundalk, is being sought by Spanish police following the death of his 28-year-old wife, Kelly Anne, who fell from a balcony in Marbella in February 2000.
High Court President, Mr Justice Joseph Finnegan, made an order for the extradition in May, the first of its kind under the European Arrest Warrant Act 2003, which came into effect in January 2004.
McArdle appealed against the ruling to the country’s highest court.
