Three men still in custody over £26m Belfast heist

Police in the North are continuing to hold three men in connection with last year's £26.5m (€38m) bank heist in Belfast.

Two men in their 20s were arrested at their homes in Kilcoo, Co Down, on Tuesday night, while a third man in his 30s was detained in Belfast yesterday.

Nobody has yet been charged in connection with the massive robbery at Northern Bank headquarters last December, which the PSNI has blamed on the Provisional IRA.

The parents of one of the men arrested on Tuesday night have insisted that their son has no political involvement and have accused the PSNI of carrying out the arrests as part of a show for the media.
