Court rejects challenge to Phantom FM licence award
The High Court has rejected a challenge to the granting of a radio licence to the Dublin station Phantom FM.
The challenge was launched by the Zed FM consortium which failed to win the alternative rock licence for the capital.
The consortium, which was backed by Bob Geldof, claimed the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland had made its mind up from the beginning to award the licence to the Phantom group.
However the High Court dismissed the claim saying there was no evidence to back it up.
