Govt welcomes LVF announcement

The Government has welcomed the LVF's decision to stand down militarily.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern today that it was an important and necessary step towards decommissioning by all the loyalist paramilitary groups.

Minister Ahern encouraged other paramilitaries to follow suit and said the Government is ready and willing to work with loyalists to address the very real needs of their communities through peaceful means.
