Way cleared for McBrearty to travel to US

Frank McBrearty Jr and his family will travel to the United States this morning after being refused entry yesterday.

Mr McBrearty was denied permission to enter the country by US immigration officials at Dublin Airport.

An assault for which he was cleared had showed up on the Garda Pulse system, despite assurances from senior gardaí that it had been removed.

The Department of Foreign Affairs moved last night to ensure the McBrearty family could travel to Chicago this morning.
