Jury to deliberate on attempted murder trial

The jury in the trial of a Kilkenny man accused of attempted murder will begin their deliberations on a verdict tomorrow at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.

Thomas O’Grady (aged 24) of Fatima Place, Kilkenny, denies attempting to murder Paul Barry (aged 34) of Ossory Park, Kilkenny, by inflicting head injuries and burns on him at Pennesfatherslot, Kilkenny, on 10 October 1999.

The burns sustained by Mr Barry in the alleged incident required both of his legs to be amputated.

Mr Justice Henry Abbott will conclude by charging the jury of eight men and four women tomorrow morning, after which they will be sent to deliberate a verdict.
