Ex-Govt advisor's weapons trial adjourned

The trial of former Government advisor, Phil Flynn, on weapons and ammunitions charges was adjourned today following a family bereavement.

The 65-year-old was due to appear before Richmond District Court in Dublin to answer charges of possession of a pen-gun and mini tear gas canisters without a certificate.

The hearing was put back until November 17 after it emerged that a member of the Flynn family had died last Friday.

The charges relate to a raid on Mr Flynn’s Dublin offices last February as part of an investigation into the former trade unionist’s links to an alleged IRA money laundering operation.

Mr Flynn has consistently denied any involvement in such activity.
