Teen charged after police attacked in Belfast
A 17-year-old youth has been charged after police were attacked by rioters in west Belfast last night.
The teenager was charged with riotous behaviour after the incident in the Ballygomartin Road area and will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court next month.
A 13-year-old boy arrested in connection with the disturbances was released earlier today and police will send a file to the Public Prosecution Service.
At least one person was injured last night when petrol bombs, stones and other missiles were hurled at officers in the Ballygomartin Road area.
The trouble involved a crowd of between 70 and 100 people.
Several police officers suffered the effects of inhaling smoke when their armoured Land Rover was struck by at least eight petrol bombs during the violent attacks, police said.
