Former Miss World sees outdoor ice rink's return
Christmas came early to Dublin today when former Miss World Rosanna Davison unveiled the return of Ireland’s only outdoor ice-skating rink this winter.
She was joined by snow princesses Ella Conn and Robyn Keaveney to launch the Bupa Ireland Smithfield on Ice, the central attraction at the Dublin-wide ‘A Christmas Tale’.
Smithfield Plaza will play host to the outdoor ice rink for the fourth year running, from the opening ceremony on Friday November 18 to Sunday January 8.
Following the success of last year’s event, which attracted more than 100,000 skaters, there will also be a Victorian carnival and a Christmas market in the plaza.
Santa will be up the 170ft Smithfield Chimney and other events from Dublin City Council’s first ‘Christmas Tale’ will include the Enchanted Village, the Festival of Light, Parade of Light and Carols on Sunday.
The ice rink will run from 10.30am to 9.30pm every day except Christmas day and will cost €14 for adults and €9.50 euro for children and concessions.
