An investigation’s underway in Co Tipperary after the death of a man in Clonmel. It appears the victim, who was in his 30s, perished in a house fire.

State Pathologist called in following Tipp fire

An investigation’s underway in Co Tipperary after the death of a man in Clonmel. It appears the victim, who was in his 30s, perished in a house fire.

The blaze broke out around 6am at a house on Heywood Close in the town. It’s understood the dead man’s body was discovered outside the burning house.

Gardai cannot confirm whether anyone else was in the house at the time the fire started.

They say the fire and the man’s death are being treated as suspicious. The scene has been preserved and the State Pathologist has been called in.

Forensics are still trying to establish how the fatal fire started.
