Johnny Adair held over suspected attack on his wife

Former UDA leader, Johnny Adair, who was arrested by British police yesterday evening, is being held for questioning over a suspected assault on his wife, Gina.

Adair is living in Bolton after being threatened by former associates out of his former Shankill Road stronghold.

The police say they arrested him last night after reports of a woman being attacked.

On Monday, a court in Bolton imposed a restraining order on Adair after he pleaded guilty to harassment.

He and another man, William Woods, had admitted to driving past the home of two former members of their gang shouting insults and threats.

The court heard the former gang members had wanted to leave the past behind which had angered Adair.
