Irishwoman dies in Mallorca hit-and-run incident

A 48-year-old Irishwoman has died in a hit-and-run accident on the Spanish holiday island of Mallorca.

The woman's 49-year-old husband is also on a life support machine following the incident in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Margaret and Mattie O'Sullivan were on their way back to their hotel in Santa Ponsa when they were knocked down by a car which fled the scene.

The couple, from Bantry in Co Cork, had just begun a two-week holiday on the island.
