Roche dismisses criticism over lack of Sellafield visit

Minister for the Environment Dick Roche has dismissed criticism of his failure to visit the controversial Sellafield nuclear plant in Britain.

Green Party TD Ciaran Cuffe claimed this morning that he had called on Mr Roche numerous times to visit the plant along with members of the Oireachtas environment committee tomorrow.

However, Mr Roche has insisted that he was never invited.

The committee is visiting Sellafield following concerns about a major leak of dangerous material at the site earlier this year.
