Air Corps pilot breaks 'round-Ireland solo sailing record
An Irish Air Corps pilot has knocked almost two days off the record for sailing around Ireland single-handedly.
Captain Mick Liddy began his journey in Dun Laoghaire last Tuesday after weeks of delays due to bad weather.
It took him five days and 12 hours to travel anti-clockwise around the island of Ireland on his 40ft racing yacht.
The previous record of seven days and 10 hours was set in 2001.
