Man critical following Louth hit and run

A man in his 20s is in a serious condition in hospital after he was hit by a car that failed to stop.

The hit and run happened on Park Street, Dundalk at around 3am.

The man was rushed by ambulance to hospital in Drogheda but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Gardaí say the car involved in the accident was found abandoned at Edentubber, close to the border.

The scene at Park Street remains sealed off for technical examination.
