Belfast man critical after gang attack him
A man is fighting for his life at a Belfast hospital after a savage beating in the city. The victim is thought to be a 29-year-old Catholic.
He was found on a walkway beside the River Lagan, close to the Short Strand Catholic enclave. He was set upon by a gang of ten men, who were seen running from the scene last night.
The victim was treated for a serious head injury by emergency medics and transferred to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Police say they have not ruled out a sectarian motive.
