A decision by the Parades Commission to ban the march from passing through the Peaceline into a mainly Nationalist area has caused fury among Orangemen and Loyalists.

The PSNI are expected to mount a major security operation to prevent violence breaking out.

The SDLP’s Patricia Lewsley has called on all sides to maintain calm. She is urging the North’s Police Chief Hugh Orde to make available whatever resources that are necessary to ensure the march goes off peacefully.
