Fine Gael has called on the Government to reduce VAT and excise duty on oil in an effort to offset rising prices on the international markets.

Fine Gael has called on the Government to reduce VAT and excise duty on oil in an effort to offset rising prices on the international markets.

The party said these taxes should only be levied on the first $50 (€40) of the cost of each barrel of oil until such time as international prices have stabilised.
