SF condemns Ardoyne rioters

Sinn Féin has condemned nationalist youths who engaged in street clashes with loyalists along the Ardoyne peaceline in north Belfast last night.

Up to 100 youths were involved in the rioting in the Ardoyne Road-Alliance Avenue area, which lasted about three hours.

Sinn Féin councillor Margaret McLenaghan said the nationalists involved were not representative of their community.

Meanwhile, a threat by the Real IRA to take action against loyalists in north Antrim is leading to growing concern in the area.

The dissident republican group has issued the threat to loyalist paramilitaries involved in a campaign of violence and intimidation in the area.
