PSNI restore order after Ardoyne unrest
Police have restored calm to a district of north Belfast after clashes between rival youths.
The disturbance broke out on Alliance Avenue, Ardoyne, shortly before 10pm.
Up to 100 youths from opposing sides threw stones at each other, and a number of house windows were smashed.
The trouble moved to the shops on Ardoyne Road, where nationalists and police clashed on July 12.
The disturbance came just over 24 hours after rioting erupted between nationalists and loyalists in east Belfast.
A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokeswoman said: “The area is now quiet. There were no arrests and we have had no reports of any injuries.”
