Armagh man fails to have Omagh bomb charges dismissed

A Belfast court has rejected a defence bid to have murder charges relating to the Omagh bombing dismissed.

Thirty-five-year-old Sean Gerard Hoey is accused of murdering the 29 victims of the 1998 Real IRA attack.

His solicitor has argued that the evidence against his client is inadmissible, but the presiding magistrate said today's remand hearing was not the appropriate forum to put this to the test.

He remanded Mr Hoey in custody until August 30th, when committal proceedings are due to take place.
