Post mortem due on man shot dead in Dublin

A post mortem is due to be carried out today on the body of a man found with suspected gunshot wounds to the head in north Dublin yesterday.

The 28-year-old victim was found in a ditch at Green Lane, near the Ward Cross area of Finglas, at around 4pm.

The killing bore all the hallmarks of a gangland execution. It is unclear whether the victim was shot in the area or whether his body had simply been dumped in the ditch.

Forensic examinations are continuing at the scene today and the Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
