Motorists warned about overcharging by filling stations

The Director of Consumer Affairs has warned motorists to be on the lookout for service stations that charge more for fuel than their advertised prices.

The Director of Consumer Affairs has warned motorists to be on the lookout for service stations that charge more for fuel than their advertised prices.

Carmel Foley issued the warning last night in response to complaints about 10 filling stations that were allegedly engaged in the practice.

Ms Foley said she wanted to remind these businesses that overcharging in this fashion is against the law and could attract fines of up to €3,000.
