Gardaí preparing file for DPP over Kildare murder

Gardaí are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the murder of a 51-year-old man in Leixlip, Co Kildare, over the weekend.

Oliver Lacey died after he was assaulted by up to 10 youths outside his home on the Cellbridge Road early on Saturday morning.

He had apparently gone to the aid of two young men who had been fleeing from the mob and had taken refuge in his front garden.

Speaking about the case today, Superintendent Mark Curran said a file was being prepared for the DPP following interviews conducted over the weekend and gardaí were not seeking anybody else in connection with the incident.
