Man shot in Lurgan playing fields

A man was today being treated in hospital in Northern Ireland after he was shot in playing fields in Lurgan.

The shooting occurred in Glenavon Lane in the Co Armagh town just after 2.30pm.

Police said there were reports that a number of shots were fired.

The victim is believed to have sustained serious injuries to his stomach and around the top of his legs.

At this stage his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police have sealed off the surrounding area.
