A member of the Gardaí could reportedly be facing criminal charges in connection with the death of a pensioner who was struck by a patrol car in Dublin earlier this year.

Seventy-four-year-old Mary Seavers, from Goatstown, died in hospital three weeks after she was hit by the car at a bus stop in Clonskeagh on May 22.

The Gardaí said the patrol car involved was not taking part in a chase or rushing to an incident, but witnesses said it had its siren on.

Reports this morning said investigating officers told the inquest into Ms Seavers' death yesterday that a file was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the matter.
