EFI to order review of showjumping team selection
The president of the Equestrian Federation of Ireland has announced plans to order a review of the selection process for the Irish showjumping team.
Avril Doyle, who is also a Fine Gael MEP, announced the move today in response to the row surrounding controversial rider Cian O'Connor.
A member of the selection committee, Tom Slattery, has resigned after accusing O'Connor of interfering in the process of choosing team members, a charge rejected by the showjumper.
Responding to the latest developments, Ms Doyle said she was deeply unhappy at the controversy.
She said she would be asking the EFI's executive committee to review the team selection process in conjunction with the Showjumping Association of Ireland after the Samsung League final in Barcelona this September.
