A recent survey of petrol stations around Dublin revealed there has been a 15% rise in the price of petrol in the past year, with the cost of diesel up by 27%.

There is also huge variation in prices between different stations.

Fine Gael's Enterprise spokesman Phil Hogan said today that the Government needs to tackle the problem now, before it gets out of hand.
