The Irish Foreign Affairs Department is offering consular assistance to the family of a man who drowned in Spain on Tuesday, it emerged today.

The Irish Foreign Affairs Department is offering consular assistance to the family of a man who drowned in Spain on Tuesday, it emerged today.

It is believed the father-of-two died in a swimming accident at the Salou resort in the north-east of the country.

A Foreign Affairs spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that we are aware of an incident on August 2 last in which an Irish national died.

“We are offering consular assistance to the family concerned through the Irish Embassy in Madrid.”
