Council wins appeal against superdump

An Bord Pleanala has upheld an appeal against a €25m superdump planned for the Meath-Kildare border.

Meath County Council initially rejected the project, but the company involved received planning permission when it submitted a fresh application to Kildare County Council.

Councillors in Meath later appealed that decision and An Bord Pleanala upheld the challenge today.

The planned dump would have dealt with 200,000 tonnes of waste each year over its 13-year lifespan.
