McGuinness hails IRA announcement

Sinn Féin chief negotiator Martin McGuinness has hailed the IRA’s announcement on the cessation of its armed campaign and claimed it was a decisive initiative.

Speaking in Washington, he said: “It contains the potential to unlock the political stalemate that has frozen the Irish peace process and the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.
