Stabbed Lithuanian man 'knew his killers', say Gardaí

Gardaí in Co Monaghan are investigating the murder of a 21-year-old Lithuanian man at a house in Clones yesterday morning.

The man, who had apparently been living in Co Fermanagh, was stabbed several times in the chest some time between 8am and 9am during a party at a flat on Roslea Road.

Reports this morning said gardaí were called to the flat at around 8am following a disturbance and the victim was alive at that stage.

However, his body was found when officers were called back to the scene a little over an hour later.

This morning's reports said gardaí believed the man was stabbed by people known to him, possibly others from Lithuania.

They also believe a number of men fled the flat in a vehicle, possibly into Northern Ireland, after the victim was attacked and before the gardaí arrived for the second time.
