Children escape serious injury in Co Wicklow bus crash
Two busloads of schoolchildren escaped serious injury yesterday when the coaches they were travelling in collided on the road between Roundwood and Kilmacanogue in Co Wicklow.
The accident happened at around 4pm in New Long HIll.
Fifteen children and an adult were taken to hospitals in Dublin, where they were treated for minor cuts and bruises and shock.
The buses involved in the crash were returning to Dublin from an outing at an adventure centre in the Wicklow mountains and were both travelling in the same direction.
Concern about the safety of coaches carrying children has been to the fore in recent weeks following the deaths of five schoolgirls in a bus accident at Kentstown in Co Meath in May.
