Guide to Irish and British qualifications launched

The Minister for Education and Science, Mary Hanafin, and the British Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Ruth Kelly, today launched a new guide for comparing qualifications in Ireland and the UK.

The guide is published by the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI).

It aims to provide information for those working in Ireland seeking to work or study in the UK and for those from the UK seeking to come here.

Sean O'Foghlu, chief executive of the NQAI, said it was part of a wider scheme: "We're working with our UK colleagues on developments in Europe which will effectively mean that there's a set of levels developed for all European qualifications. Through that set of levels, different national qualifications can be compared."
