Prison officers' pay deadline extended

The deadline for prison officers to accept a final pay deal offer has been extended for another 24 hours, it emerged tonight.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell had laid down a 10-day deadline, which was due to expire today, in an attempt to resolve the long-running dispute.
