Public urged to lobby against Grocery Order
Irish consumers have been urged to make submissions to the Grocery Order in the final three weeks remaining of the public consultation process.
The National Consumer Agency said today the order is against the interests of shoppers and should be completely abolished.
Chair of the NCA Ann Fitzgerald explained: “The retailer gets an invoice and afterwards gets a discount.
"But he cannot pass those discounts on to consumers because they are not on a piece of paper called an invoice, so the price that we consumers buy a product at is set from the beginning and cannot change.”
