Ireland's membership of the EU has led to a significant reduction in the cost of basic foodstuffs, according to a survey commissioned by Agri Aware.

The organisation said the survey found that some foods like meat and milk were up to 65% cheaper than they would be if pre-1973 prices had kept pace with inflation.
