Brennan outlines new welfare tracking plan

Social Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan has announced his new initiative aimed to help welfare recipients back into the workforce.

Minister Brennan said he was planning to profile all people who sign on the Live Register and track their progress over a period of 18 months.

The information gathered, he said, would be used to devise a national policy for helping welfare recipients find work.

Minister Brennan said there was no shortage of employment in Ireland but studies had found factors like age, education and marital status can act as barriers to certain job-seekers.
