Gardaí have released the names of three road accident victims who died this weekend.

Sixteen-year-old Sarah Murtagh of Grian Ard, Longford died when the car in which she was a passenger was involved in a collision with a taxi early yesterday morning.

The 82-year-old man who was killed when his car struck a horse in Co Carlow on Friday night was named as Thomas Howell. He was from Ballincoush, Dungarvan, in Co Waterford.

David Healy, 21, from Straffan, in Co Kildare was killed when his car went out of control and hit a pole near Summerhill in Co Meath also on Friday night.

Meanwhile, a fourth road death has occurred in Co Kilkenny. The woman in her 50s was a front seat passenger in a car, which hit a wall at Warrenstown near Johnstown at 8am.

The driver and two other passengers have been taken to hospital but are not thought to be seriously hurt.
