Teenage girl killed, six injured in Longford crash
A 16-year-old girl has been killed and six other people seriously injured in a two-car crash at Ballyminnion, Longford.
The girl, a passenger in one of the cars, was dead on arrival at Mullingar General Hospital.
The driver of the car, a male in his teens, is in a critical condition at the same hospital. Three other passengers in the car, all believed to be in their teens, were also taken to hospital.
The driver of the other car, a taxi, was taken to St. James' Hospital with serious leg injuries. A passenger in the taxi was seriously injured and was taken to Mullingar General Hospital.
The accident is under investigation by gardaí from Longford garda station.
The accident happened on the main N5, at about 3.25am today.
